I am first and foremost a tech guy; I am very comfortable with many different web technologies from Hadoop to React. Thanks to my experience as an architect consultant, I learned to adapt easily to new technologies. Most of all, I learned that the success in developing a new product is more about the path you take rather than the technologies used. I know how to manage the agile development process and how to get the most out a team. Most importantly, I am a people person. I have always had much respect for my teams and their technical skills. A manager needs to know how to motivate people and to understand different character types. Thanks to my years of experience I have acquired a great expertise in dealing with people’s differences and complementary qualities. From the beginning I have been exposed to efficient methodologies and I have often acted as an agile coach. My career has allowed me to discover many large (French) web players (PagesJaunes, Médiamétrie, Canal+, Viadeo, Doctolib) and a lot of tough challenges have helped me to gain the necessary experience to become a VP of Engineering. I like to compare myself to the motor oil in a running engine; tech people can get trapped in their tech world, and forget to communicate — which is absolutely vital for a team to function. My main defining characteristic is pragmatism; it allows me to think of IT as an instrument of business value.
